Oggi Gourmet

Holyoke Center

Mon-Fri: 7:45am – 8pm
Sat-Sun: 12pm – 7pm

Tucked away in the Holyoke Center is Oggi, a catch-all breakfast/lunch/dinner nook with seating that spills into the HC’s hallways. The ambience is cozy and decidedly European, with ivy trellises and wood accents that make the whole place feel like an outdoor petit restaurant that was transported to the indoors. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but Oggi doesn’t see a lot of Harvard traffic, squirreled away as it is, despite serving up pretty tasty food and enough seating for small groups or for that special date you’ve been desperately planning. Their cherry tomato, almond and goat cheese pizza is creamy and tart, with a bubbly crust that sets it apart from other Square pizza ($2.50). Burgers, at $6-8 each, are thick and juicy with a fresh sourdough bun and fresh produce, but the price doesn’t really justify what you’re getting in product when there are so many cheaper options available. Give it a spin if you have a reason to, or just want to try something different while people-watching (or TV watching — they have one!).

b. good

b. good is one of a number of burger joints in Harvard Square. The reason it made this list? Not the burgers, which are perfectly fine, if not impressive, but the salads. For those of you discouraged by HUHDS’s anemic produce, the b. good salad makes a hale and hearty meal. Offerings rotate seasonally; their Strawberry Goat Cheese and Southwestern Chicken salads are reliably good. Burgers are $6-7, Salads $7-$7.50. Shakes and smoothies (also very good) are $4-5. If you’re looking for a quick snack, the sweet potato fries are a buttery crispy goodness that puts other taters to shame ($2).

Mon-Sat: 11:30am – 10:30pm
Sun: 11am – 10:30pm

If you think vegetarianism means eating lentils for the rest of your life, you’ve never been to Veggie Planet. Veggie Planet serves up creative pizzas and rice bowls to crowds of hippies and hipsters during the day, converting into musical venue Club Passim at night. Take a crack at Henry’s Lunch (or dinner, depending on the time of day), which is a thrilling combination of roasted butternut squash, caramelized onions, rosemary & sage, goat cheese, and asiago cheese on pizza dough, brown rice, or coconut rice. Small pizzas (which are not that small) are around 7 dollars, while large pizzas are about 11.

About

Ivyfed is the brainsprout of Jasmine, Georgia, and Abby, three Harvard juniors who came up with a pretty simple idea in the summer of 2011: a blog that talks about Harvard undergrads eating, dressing, and living well.

ivycovered: what to wear and when we saw it
ivyseen: what to do and where to go
